Configuring Remote Desktop Certificates for OS X Clients Windows has supported TLS for server authentication with RDP going back to Windows Server 2003 SP1. When connecting to a Windows PC, unless certificates have been configured, the remote PC presents a self-signed certificate, which results in a warning prompt from the Remote Desktop client.

I downloaded Microsoft's RDP client for Mac OSX and when I try to connect to the Terminal Server at work it won't allow me to connect. I get the following error:
- Remote Desktop Support Software for Mac. Bomgar has supported Mac OS X since 2007. And, unlike some remote support solutions that stop with basic support, Bomgar offers largely the same functionality for Mac as it does for Windows.
- To use Remote Desktop connection utility on Mac OS X like 10.10 Yosemite or other versions, you need to have the proper networking and compatible RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) client. Specially when you try to connect other Operating Systems, such as Windows or Linux, then the RDP app should support necessary settings and security features.
- You cannot use a PIV smart card to authenticate to a Windows 8 or 8.x remote desktop from a OS X Mavericks (10.9) or OS X Yosemite (10.10) client system, or to a Windows Vista remote desktop from an OS X Yosemite (10.10) client system.
- Displays have separate spaces If you are running Mac OS X 10.9 and disabled Displays have separate spaces in Mavericks (System Preferences > Mission Control), you need to configure this setting in the remote desktop client using the same option.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.2.

Unless it has been resolved, there are known issues with RDP between certain versions of OSX and certain version of Windows Server. See:
I'd try another client (e.g., CoRD). If CoRD works, then you know it's not so much a bug/config problem, but the RDP issue referenced above.

You can also try Ericom Blaze. Besides connecting to Terminal Server from Mac OSX, it will also accelerate and compress RDP, so it can improve performance if you need to open files like PDFs or PPTs.
